I've only had these boots for a couple weeks and it took about that long for them to break in. They are certainly sturdy with a heavy tread and it took a little while to get used to their weight. I have not yet tested their water resistance capability, update on that at a later time. The fit was generally ok but I felt my heel was moving a bit too much so I tried both a little thicker sock and a heel insert. The reason for the 3 stars is my long term concern for the leather. Just days after purchasing them, while moving something it lightly glanced across the toe and instead of just a scuff I could polish out it actually easily skimmed/peeled off a small piece of the top layer of leather leaving a small divot. It cannot be polished out as its now a depression allowing the grainy part of the leather show through. I'm feeling that the top layer of leather is not well adhered and for the intended usage of this boot it may easily suffer irreparable damage in day to day normal activity. I've worn other types of leather work boots and never had this happen. Scuffs, yes...peeling off the leather..no. Will update after further usage.

For the price, it was a good boot. At first they we're uncomfortable. Took about a month to break them in. The flap behind the zipper rubbed. Not enough to cause a blister. Be definitely uncomfortable. The pleather wore off the toe cap in about a month. The water proofness about the same amount of time. The sole is still great after 15 months of working outside on a Port. Alot of metal debris on the ground, but never had a puncture. Oil everywhere on the ground, but great slip resistance. The right boot by the outside ankle wore all the way through to the ankle from driving equipment on the Port. The temperature was cool in the summer 110 degrees outside. But my feet were freezing in the winter. For some reason they always come untied, even if you double knot them. And they still have the original laces. And if they did not come untied, they would feel loose after a couple of days. Then you would have to retie them anyway. What is the sense of have a boot with a zipper if you always have to tie them. Zipper, and Velcro held up great.

They say they are waterproof and they mean it. I didn't ever think about it but one day I was near the beach and we stopped to walk around a bit. Well as the tide came in later the water rolled over my boots and my feet and socks stayed dry. To test this further I walked out until they were submerged completely and between these and my 5.11 taclite pants my socks stayed dry. I was so impressed I told my buddy I had to actually write a review on them. I wear these daily for work and have for about 6 months now. They held up well and are quite comfortable. The shorter boots, the 6 inch model, you have to untie them to step out with the side zip. This isn't a big deal but makes me a bit sad as the taller boot you can get in and out and leave tied which is nice. Overall still 100% worth the asking price and I'll likely buy more in the future.

In short: After wearing these boots almost every day for about 2 years I can honestly say that these are the best, most comfortable, and most durable footwear I have ever owned. I've put them through Hell, and I plan to have a pair as long as they are still manufactured and I'm alive.

Extended: I bought these for work in a warehouse 5 days a week, standing on a concrete slab all day can really hurt the feet after a 10 hour shift. Break in period on these boots for me was about a week, at which point I felt like I was standing on a cloud all day. After a month, I decided that they were more comfortable than my more expensive Nike's shoes, and I have worn them almost exclusively ever since. (They would have gone to my brothers wedding but I was a groomsmen so I had to look better than work boots. Oh well, there's always MY wedding)

In the 2 years I've been wearing these boots, the composite toe has protected my toes from many foes, including pallets, dropped tools, that one clumsy friend that never looks where they step. Cars can roll over them and they stand strong. I even battled the terrifying Table leg and my little toe was unharmed. (Lol)

My favorite part is that because the toe is composite they are still light enough that they don't weigh you down. (Very important for long hikes, and if you plan on doing any running)

Overall build quality is fantastic, though they are definitely showing their age at this point. Lots of nicks and scrapes on the leather, but they still polish up alright. A really deep cut through most of the tread (still not sure what I stepped on, but my foot didn't feel it so the boots did their job) and they are starting to peel at a glue seems BUT THAT ISN'T THE FAULT OF WORKMANSHIP. I have zero fear of fire and am absolutely THAT guy at the bonfire. I have stood too close to, and stepped in more fires than I can count, and these have held up spectacularly considering. After about a year and a half I had to replace the laces, I melted clean through one playing soccer with red hot coals......
At this point I am noticing stress from the leather creasing in the same place for 2 years, and I've noticed the foam on the bottom, inside the boots, is just starting to rip apart in the heel and big toe areas. (I suspect this is because they are a half size too big)

My ONLY complaint is that when the zipper is open it doesn't quite leave enough space to get your foot in easily unless you wear the boots a little bit loose. Though as long as you use a shoehorn it CAN be done without trashing the fabric on the heel.

I've put these boots through Hell, and intend to keep doing so for at least another year. I will update when I retire this pair.

Absolute worst boots I've ever had. I'm an Aircraft Mechanic and I spend most of my week wearing safety boots, for about 12 hours a day. I bought these because I was drawn to the side Zip feature, making the boots easy to take off and out on. They are comfortable, I won't complain about that, but, boy, is the leather WEAK. The leather on the toes of the boots is already starting to wear down and scuff, and ive only been wearing them for two weeks so far, and the upper Leather layer is already scuffed and torn off. I figured for a 200$ pair of boots, they would last longer than 6 months or so, but I was wrong. These boots aren't made to be beat up it seems, they're not as tough as advertised
