The Gibraltar Classic all-in-one mailbox and post combo is as convenient to install as it is functional. The Classic's medium capacity lends ample room for your parcel deliveries. It is constructed with double-wall plastic for extra protection, and features an ultra-violet inhibitor finish to obstruct color damage from the sun. Considerate of high traffic areas, it also has a back door so you can be safe while retrieving your mail. The Classic can easily fit over an existing 4x4 post for a fast, ready-to-use installation.

I watched several YouTube videos on installing a new mailbox. I was so glad I purchased this Gibraltar mailbox. It went together in about 10 minutes. Everything slides into place, locks, and looks a lot better than I expected. I also bought a 10 foot post and it just slides over it. One of the best purchases I have made. I wanted an all plastic design so as not to rust or corrode over time. All the other neighbors are envying my mailbox now. Highly recommended and love my new mailbox ! Gibraltar makes other styles of mailbox. So if this is not your style, you can pick another.

Note: when I mention "base" I am talking about the bottom of the mailbox, not the post attachment.

Supposedly, to assemble the mailbox itself, you snap the main body of the box into grooves on the base, then slide forward to lock in place.

The narrower front part of the grooves is SHALLOWER than the back part, so when you slide the body of box forward, the tabs pop out of the base! This makes it impossible to assemble.

I don't know if mine came from a defective batch, or what, because if the grooves just got narrower without getting shallower, it would assemble . Even so...

Even when assembled, I doubt this blow molded plastic thing would withstand the slightest impact.

A $50 plastic mailbox is never going to work. I shoulda known better.

Don't expect to be able to put this mailbox together by yourself. You have to squeeze the top together while trying to slide it on the mounting platform. I was ready to throw it out the window. One side would slide and the other side would pop out. I am not easily frustrated as I am accustomed to work but this was ridiculous. I have previouslly owned 2 plastic mailboxes and have never had this much difficulty putting them together as I did this one. However once put together it is sturdy and I do believe it will be ok.

I bought this mailbox because I liked the shape. The mailbox is shipped in five pieces that snap together without tools (a rubber mallet helps). It requires a 3½" x 3½" x 4' pressure-treated post. It is best to set the post in concrete. The mailbox is very sturdy. The postal carrier says it is just the right height. She can put the mail in it without bending. The rear door is very handy. I no longer have to step off the curb to get the mail. The mailbox is easy to clean. I put some stick-on numbers on the side, but they don't stick to the plastic very well.

What I needed?

I was looking for a simple plastic mailbox to slide over the existing post from our previous metal mailbox. I didn't like the huge mailboxes, with newspaper slot, barn doors, or other crazy shapes or colors.

What I found?

This Solar Group CL10000M mailbox is exactly what I needed. Met my requirements for simplicity, color, and easy installation.

* Took about 20 minutes total and that included shoveling the snow away from the existing post.
* Simply snaps together in a way that feels VERY solid. No special tools required.
* Slides easily over standard 4x4 post. Note, it does not come with the post. You would need to install one if it didn't already exist.
* Four screws are used to fasten it to the existing post.
* Only required a phillips screwdriver for attaching to mailbox. Electric screwdriver makes it easy.

* Has front and rear doors which snap tightly.
* Internal width is slightly more narrow than a magazine lying flat. Not going to result in a heavily folded magazine.
* Height is as expected. Spoke to the mailman and he said the height is perfect for him. Although I would say it's a bit higher than my previous mailbox.
* It has a flag that works and won't fall back down.

Note: This product is actually branded Rubbermaid on the box. Although it was manufactured by Solar Group, per the stamp in the plastic mold.

This mailbox looks great! Looks expensive and was very easy to install...just cement in your post and slide it on! The actual assembly of the mailbox was tough though...which is why I only gave 4 stars. Took me about a half hour to line up the box perfectly and squeeze it just right in order to get it to attach to the base. I couldn't believe how annoying it was to do. But other than that, the rest was cake. Worth the annoyance, because it looks super nice and expensive!

Bought this as a replacement mailbox for one that originally lasted almost 20 years. I am very please with this mailbox so far. The interior capacity of this mailbox is very good and I expect that this mailbox will last for many, many years.

We love this mailbox.

Kids drove by & hit it with a baseball bat & the door flew off. I picked it up & snapped it right back into place... lol... easy peasy.
