My son wanted to do French horn in band. I didn't want to buy a new one because I wasn't sure if he would continue. We rented an used Yamaha 313 which was the only one the music store had in hand. It was so beat up but worked. My son has done a wonderful job since he started playing. So I considered buying him one. For the one we had in hand which was an used Yamaha, it would cost me almost $600. I was hesitant to order this one because of the bad reviews and the experience from buying an violin on 4 years back, which costed me $160 and was really a junk. But paying almost $600 for a beat up French horn, I really didn't feel right. So I decided to give it a try. When my son and I opened the box, we was thrilled! It's so shinning and beautiful compared to the used one. And when my son tried on it, I made my mind to keep it instantly. It is so much easier for my son to blow and it sounds great! He has been practiced almost everyday for the past 2 weeks since it arrived. Everything works fine. I am so happy with the purchase, and the cost is much less than renting which was $30 per month. Most importantly, he loves his new French horn!

I think it has been a great buy. My son's band teacher says, "Well, it is not the best brand..." For a beginner band student, a 7th grader, I think it is an instrument that we could afford and our son is able to make some pretty good music with it, considering he has only been playing about 5 weeks and has never had a lesson. Well worth the price, which I understand was quite a good deal. We would have had to pay more to rent a french horn for a year. The horn we bought, I understand, is worth more than twice what we paid for it.

I love this horn. I picked it up after fifty years of woodwinds. It is a beautiful instrument and it looks snazzy just to hold it. I did have some sputtering at first, but, well, you need to empty the slides. They get wet. With this horn, everything works. No problem with the keys. I also have a Mendini pocket trumpet and am very satisfied. This is an excellent horn, at an affordable price.

I never expected to get a top-of-the line instrument -- I am very pleased with this one for the price. It plays fine for a single F-horn and looks good. If you are serious about learning to play, I'd recommend consulting your teacher, but if you know what to expect then I think this is a fine value.

So far really good. Horn teacher says it's playable - not always the case with low end French Horns - and kid is practicing.

Great horn for beginner students. My son loves it! Excellent sound and the metronome/ tuner is a great tool for kids to have.
